Article Title: Bogacki Caps Season with Back-To-Back Wins at Las Vegas Thanksgiving Bracket Nationals

Alabama resident Luke Bogacki made the long trek West to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway pay off last weekend with two visits to the Super Pro winner circle at the annual Las Vegas Thanksgiving Bracket Nationals.

There, Bogacki drove his familiar CSR Performance Products backed American Race Cars dragster to a $5,000 Friday night victory over Chris Lindsay. After wading thru the 200-plus car field, Bogacki saved his most impressive runs for last; posting .005 and .008 reaction times to defeat John Dowd and Brad Gebhardt in rounds six and seven respectively. He then used a perfect .000 reaction and dead-on 4.815 to best upcoming NHRA sportsman standout Justin Lamb, before ending the night with a .008 induced dead-on 4.826 over Lindsay.

A day later, Bogacki was once again at work late in competition, as he came into the seventh round of Saturday’s $7500-to-win event entered not only in his CSR Performance Products machine, but also the Bullet Motorsports Dragster of longtime friend Jason Lynch. With just 8 cars remaining in round seven, the race looked to be a two-way fight between Bogacki and Stefan Kondolay, who also had a pair of dragsters left in competition. Both Bogacki and Kondolay won their opening quarterfinal matchups, and faced off for the first time in their second entries at the end of the round. There, Kondolay used a .005 package to oust Bogacki in the Bullet entry.

In the semi-final round, Bogacki redeemed himself beside Kondolay, using a .008 to .013 starting line advantage to push the Canadian under his 4.98 index with a 4.975. Kondolay, the 2008 Division 6 Super Comp champion, then returned to defeat Paul Snell in the other semi-final round, setting up what was essentially the rubber-match in the pairs "best two-out-of-three" match race for the $7500 winners purse. The marquee final round matchup was over before it began however, as Kondolay fouled with a -.002 reaction to Bogacki’s strong .005, handing Bogacki back-to-back Super Pro victories.

"What an incredible weekend," described Bogacki. "Myself, Jason Lynch, Troy Williams, Jr., and Michael Rastall went in together with Michael’s rig and sent everything to Vegas. While the event is a good race, with plenty of opportunities to make money, I think we all looked at it like a vacation, and a good excuse to go to Vegas! To win two big races was icing on the cake!"

The victories were certainly icing on the cake for Bogacki’s 2008 campaign which has exceeded even his lofty expectations following a banner 2007 season. This year, Bogacki claimed 4 IHRA national event titles en route to top ten national finishes in three categories (Stock, Top Dragster, and Quick Rod). He is the first sportsman competitor in IHRA history to finish in the top ten in three categories in the same season. As such, he was awarded with the IHRA Sportsman Driver of the Year award, which is voted on by IHRA members each season. In addition, he turned in a stellar scorecard in big dollar bracket competition, with a $10,000 win in Gainesville, FL (an event in which he had both his CSR Dragster and Mickey Thompson Vega in the final round), and $5,000 triumphs in Huntsville, AL, Buffalo Valley, TN, Chilton County, AL and Clay City, KY in addition to his LVMS conquests. He added runner-up finishes at the Bradenton 5-Day event, the $30,000-to-win finale of the Million Dollar Race weekend in Memphis, and a handful of $5,000-to-win bracket events.

"It’s been a great season all around," said Bogacki. "I have so many supporters to thank. I couldn’t do this without them!"

Bogacki acknowledged the support of marketing partners CSR Performance Products, Mickey Thompson Tires, Bill Taylor Engineering, JEGS, American Race Cars, and Huntsville Engine & Performance. He also thanked the following manufacturers for commitment to excellence: Brodix Cylinder Heads, Milodon, Goza Racing Products, K&R Performance Engineering, B&M, Figspeed.com, Moser Engineering, ISC Racers Tape, Dixie Race Products, Hedman Hedders, Nitroplate, AFCO, Rockett Brand Race Fuels, Nitrous Express, Advanced Product Design, Auto Meter, and K&N Filters.
