Sixth Annual JEGS US Open Bracket Championship Kicks Off Next Thursday with the American Race Cars Warm-Up Race
Indianapolis , IN : The sixth annual JEGS U.S. Open Bracket Championships comes to O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis on Thursday, June 17. The four-day bracket event begins with the American Race Cars Thursday warm-up. This unique event boasts a winners purse of $10,000 AND a new 2010 American Race Cars Patriot Series Swing Arm dragster chassis (over $12,000 value)! In addition to the huge winners purse, racers will also compete for excellent payback and round money, a US Open tradition. Thursday’s runner-up will earn $3,000, with semi-finalists taking home $1200. Round money starts with fourth round losers, who will earn $200 for their efforts.
Entry for the American Race Cars Thursday warm-up is only $200. Holding with the events long standing tradition, the race will feature NO buy backs with 256 entries or more (the JEGS US Open has not offered buy backs since it’s annual event in 2005). In addition to the great payout, Digital Delay will also be providing an Elite 500 Delay Box for the best losing package in round 1.
“We started the Thursday warm-up race a few years ago to add value to the JEGS U.S. Open experience for the racers,” explained co-promoter Dave Szerlag. “Last season, Mark Horton and Travis Colangelo at American Race Cars came onboard to make it even better. They allow racers to compete for the $10,000 cash purse and a new dragster chassis for the entry fee of a normal $10,000-to-win race: Just $200. It’s a great relationship for everyone involved, because Mark and Travis share our vision of creating a great atmosphere for our racers and customers.”
The American Race Cars Thursday Warm-up kicks off the JEGS U.S. Open weekend, which features winner’s purses of $20,000 (Friday), $20,000 (Saturday), and $10,000 (Sunday) for the bargain weekend entry of just $500. A host of sponsors provide unmatched prizes for racers in addition to the main purse, and the event also hosts a myriad of special shootout events for various prizes.
