Article Title: American Race Cars Launches Ne

While American Race Cars is a relatively young company in the performance chassis building market, the individuals who make up the American team are certainly no strangers to sportsman drag racing. Co-owners Mark Horton and Travis Colangelo have been involved in the sport of drag racing and the business surrounding it for well over two decades.

Horton, the 1999 IHRA Super Rod World Champion, spent the four seasons following his title on the road as a professional racer along the NHRA and IHRA circuits. Colangelo has competed in various machines throughout his career, earning titles along the IHRA national and divisional levels in addition to several large bracket events over the years.

American Race Cars introduced their line of Patriot Series Swing Arm Dragsters in late 2004, and a handful of local customers achieved great success behind the wheel of American Patriot machines in 2005. Colangelo, along with Brian Lampton, Joe West, Dave Elrod, Rick Schneider, and Jeff Brown experienced success in their American Chassis last season. Perennial bracket hitter Luke Bogacki picked up his new American Patriot Dragster in late October, and promptly debuted it with a victory at Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, KY.

More big name competitors including defending Bracket Series Champion Scotty Richardson (who ordered two new American Patriot Swing-Arm cars for 2006), 2005 BTE Million Dollar Race Runner-Up Robbie Mayse and his son Rustin, along with IHRA and bracket standouts Scott and Chad Batyik have new American mounts coming for the 2006 campaign. With the increase in customers and visibility, American Race Cars has stepped up to become a contingency sponsor along the series in 2006.

“I feel like we’ve got a good following here locally--in Ohio and Michigan,” said Horton. “And we’ve got several programs in place to build on that, and to support our local customers. But like any business, we’re looking to grow and expand our market. We’re extremely excited to have experienced racers like Robbie and Rustin, Scotty, and Luke make the move to American Race Cars and purchase cars from us, in addition to our strong contingent of Ohio-area racers. Involvement with the series makes sense for American Race Cars--it’s essentially a nationwide series, and some of our core customers have a strong following within it.”

American Race Cars will post contingency for competitors in BTE Super Pro throughout the 2006 season. Winning racers using an American Race Cars built Patriot Swing-Arm Dragster and displaying the American Race Cars decal will earn $100, while runner-ups will haul in $50 for their efforts.

“We’ll have literature available at each event, and between Richardson, Bogacki, Mayse, Lampton, Joe West, and some of our other customers, American Race Cars should be represented by a vehicle at most events,” said Horton.
